About Our Client

My client is a top National Developer actively expanding in the San Francisco Bay Area. They focus on developing multifamily housing and have a deep background in urban, infill mixed-use residential development, redevelopment or repurposing of existing facilities. In terms of their projects, they have a project pipeline of more than 2,100 units valued at approximately $665 million. They've developed residential properties as small as 100 units and as large as 650+ units, as well as mixed-used properties with hotel and large retail components. In the last 15 years, they've also completed 5,100 units totaling $1.2 billion. Due to their national reach, my client has not only set the bar for what it takes to be a successful multifamily developer but has also ensured access to national volume to meet the needs of their clients, as well as drive efficiency and profitability for all parties.

Job Description

  • Develop and execute the construction department's strategic vision, goals, and objectives in alignment with the organization's overall strategy.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the construction team, ensuring clear communication, effective collaboration, and continuous development of staff.
  • Identify and implement process improvements and best practices to enhance construction operations' efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Oversee the planning, budgeting, scheduling, and execution of all construction projects.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, local building codes, safety regulations, and quality standards.
  • Review project proposals, contracts, and change orders to mitigate risks and maximize project profitability.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Collaborate with procurement and supply chain teams to ensure timely availability of construction materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.
  • Coordinate with Human Resources for recruitment, training, and retention of qualified construction personnel.
  • Foster a culture of safety and quality by implementing appropriate policies, training programs, and performance metrics.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and regulatory authorities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless coordination between construction activities and other project stakeholders.
  • Conduct regular meetings and presentations to update senior management and stakeholders on project status, risks, and opportunities.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for escalated construction-related issues and provide timely resolution.

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
  • Applicant must have 10+ years' experience in construction management and/or commercial and multifamily development.
  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role within the construction industry, with a track record of successfully delivering complex projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction methodologies, building codes, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Strong project management skills, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Excellent leadership abilities with the capacity to inspire and motivate teams towards achieving common goals.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Proficient in construction management software, computer-aided design (CAD), and other relevant tools.
  • Proven track record of prioritizing safety, quality, and sustainability in construction projects.
