General Counsel

Informal is a core contributor to Cosmos, a multi-billion dollar decentralized web of software, networks, and organizations on the frontier of secure distributed systems infrastructure and applications. Informal Systems is a core contributor to Cosmos, where we specialize in the security of the Interchain. Our mission is transform three key institutions of society: Software - how we build and deploy it Money - how we issue and distribute it Organizations - how we own and govern them We do this today by creating a secure, sustainable and scalable Interchain serviced by the Cosmos Hub. As General Counsel, you will have the opportunity to create our legal and compliance strategy in house and work with key stakeholders internally and across the cosmos ecosystem.

Opportunities + Responsibilities:

• Provide strategic legal advice, counsel and support to the internal team at Informal
• Work closely with the COO on fundraising initiatives for cooperatives and relevant corporate structuring to support these initiatives
• Work closely with COO on cap table management and strategy for both equity and crypto to ensure employees have long term alignment and upside in Informal
• Manage day-to-day corporate/commercial legal operations, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating service agreements, investments documents, and vendor agreements
• Work closely with cross functional teams including marketing, HR, and finance to identify risks and ensure compliance
• Select and manage outside counsel, primarily in North America and Europe
• Work closely with product, marketing and finance teams to keep abreast of regulatory and policy developments to proactively mitigate risks that may arise.
• Continuously assess operating risks and legal needs for Informal

Required Skills + Experience

• Qualified lawyer with 8+ years of relevant experience
• Passion for the blockchain industry
• Exceptional writing and organizational skills
• Self-starter, quick learner with sense of urgency, highly driven and proactive -keen to create process and structure and strive for continuous improvement
• Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, growth-stage and multicultural environment
• Experience working with, or at, startups and tech companies is a plus, but not required
• Experience working with companies that have operations in multiple jurisdictions is a plus, but not required.
