ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking an intern for 11-weeks – mid-February through April 28, 2023 in our NYC office.
Working on CoinDesk
Consensus Magazine, the role involves a mix of news and profile writing, editing, marketing-editorial content, and general editorial tasks.
This individual will report directly to Ben Schiller, Managing Editor for Features and Opinion at CoinDesk.
The ideal candidate is ambitious, collaborative and ready to roll up their sleeves as CoinDesk continues to scale.
This is a chance to break into the world of crypto and Web3 – a complex, increasingly influential industry full of opportunities.
The role is paid ($22/hr for 40 hours a week).
RESPONSBILITIES:
- Interviews with speakers ahead of CoinDesk’s Consensus (C23) festival in April;
- Assist with the “CoinDesk at 10” project, and write previews of C23 programming;
- Write news summaries for “The Node” newsletter (daily);
- Assist with editorial aimed at marketing C23 and driving ticket sales;
- Assist with Consensus Magazine theme weeks including “Sports and Culture Week” and “BUIDL Week.”
ABOUT YOU
- Must be trained in journalism and feel comfortable interviewing figures from the world of crypto/Web 3
- Must be organized, hard working and detail-oriented
- No prior knowledge of the blockchain/crypto industry required, but candidate must be interested in topics such as the future of money, the politics of trust and the decentralized internet
- Possesses a pithy, conversational writing style, with an eye for detail and color
- Ability to collaborate with CoinDesk staff.
