Job Description
The
Associate, Strategic Development (BESS) - San Francisco will -
- Coordinate and strategize with regional teams to identify and translate market rules and trends into energy storage development opportunities.
- Work closely with the External Affairs, Business Development and Development teams to evaluate and advance policy priorities advantageous for stationary storage (hybrid and stand-alone), including market design changes and interconnection tariffs.
- Coordinate and strategize with Origination team on the development of offtake structures for energy storage projects, including submitting responses to Request for Proposals (RFPs) and supporting customer meetings.
- Coordinate and strategize with Origination, Development and Engineering team to triangulate energy storage offerings with CEG forecasts, customer needs, market requirements, etc.
- Manage and support the development of complex stationary storage projects from initial project proposal and siting, through to permitting, design, interconnection, approval, contracting, financing, and handover to construction.
- Identify, propose, and implement creative or alternative project development approaches that reduce exposure to permitting risks, optimize development schedules or create additional project value.
- Manage due diligence on development-stage project and portfolio acquisitions, including comparison and prioritization of multiple opportunities based on common siting, permitting, interconnection, power-marketing and other project metrics.
- Conduct critical review of project pro forma models for revenue and total project cost.

The Successful Applicant
The ideal candidate will have:
- Bachelors' degree in engineering, business, economics, finance, environmental science, or a related field is required.
- Knowledge of energy policy and customer/market signals that impact or facilitate new development of renewable projects in major markets (CAISO, WECC, ERCOT, MISO, SPP, PJM, NYISO, ISO-NE).
- Battery storage project experience preferred.
- Ability to travel as required (>25%).
